DAY 1: DEPART FOR SPRINGDALE
We will plan on meeting all clients in Las Vegas, Nevada or St. George, Utah by noon and then depart for Springdale, Utah, just outside Zion National Park. You also have the option of meeting us in Springdale by 1pm. Once we get checked in to our hotel, we will head in to the park and enjoy our first hike together up to Emerald Pools. This mild hike is a beautiful loop trail that will take us along a single track trail, past waterfalls and pools of cool blue water all nesting beneath the massive monolith cliffs of Zion. Afterward we will head into Springdale, enjoy dinner and walk the many galleries and shops along main street.
DAY 2: CANYONEERING
Today we will enjoy some mild canyoneering perfect for those who have never been. It also serves as a great refresher for those with canyoneering experience. We will drive east out of the park and take you to a hidden gem known as Diana’s Throne. We will approach the canyon from on top of the bluff where we will rappel a dozen or so times over the
length of a mile. After this, we enter back in to Zion and stop at Checkerboard Mesa and the Overlook Trail for some incredible viewpoints. Then we will head back to town to relax for the evening.
DAY 3: THE ZION NARROWS
This will be another great day of soaking in this incredible park. We rise early for breakfast, then off to the Temple of Sinawava to hike the Zion Narrows. We’ll hike up stream through the Virgin River admiring the towering Navajo Sandstone cliffs on each side to the junction of Orderville Canyon. National Geographic’s Adventure Magazine rated hiking the Virgin River Narrows number five in its list of America’s best 100 adventures. We will make it back to town for a late lunch, then we will take you to an authentic 1800’s ghost town with pioneer cabins and its own cemetery.
DAY 4: SLOT CANYONS
Get prepared for one of the best slot canyons in this area. We’ll depart early and drive through the park and exit the east side of Zion National Park. We will tackle the Birch Hollow Canyon (located on BLM land) and enjoy the perfectly sculpted fluted walls with an iconic chock stone hanging high above. We will hike down through the canyon and
rappel 10 different times up to 100‘ high. This will take most of the day, so we will arrive back at our lodge in the evening. After cleaning up, we will enjoy dinner and then you can choose to rest or walk the town. You can always catch a shuttle back in to the park for free until 9pm and explore!
DAY 5: ANGELS LANDING
A trip to Zion’s would be incomplete if you don’t hike Angels Landing, consistently ranked among one the world’s greatest hikes. It’s best to head out early, so we will grab an early breakfast and head back in to the park. We ascend along a steep trail which has literally been cut into the face of a vertical cliff. A third of the way up, the trail passes
into a cool grotto and then up the switch backs known as Walters Wiggles. Half way up we reach Scout lookout, then on to the final push. We hike along a fin with 700 foot drops on either side of us. But don’t worry, the trail is plenty wide to feel secure, and the NPS has placed hip high chains to hold along the more treacherous parts. You’re going to need all the memory your camera can handle today! We’ll arrive back in town and once again grab some dinner and the rest of the evening is yours to enjoy as you please.
DAY 6: WATER CANYON
On our final day together, we will be exploring Water Canyon (located on BLM land). Named for the year around springs that feed this canyon. We will begin at the bottom of the canyon and traverse the rocky and sandy shelves until leading us to the top of the canyon. From the top, we will enjoy beautiful vistas looking back towards the south
end of Zion National Park. We will then drop into the narrows of the canyon and descend down 9 different rappels reaching heights of 170 feet eventually leading us back to the start of the trailhead. Afterward, we will collect our luggage from the lodge and head back to St. George and depart for home. Those who wish can plan ahead to stay in
the area or head off to the other incredible parks in our area.
