DAY 1: LAS VEGAS TO BRYCE CANYON
We will depart from Las Vegas by noon and arrive at Bryce Canyon by 4pm. After we stop for dinner at Ruby’s Inn, we will head in to one of Utah’s most iconic National Parks, Bryce Canyon. It feels like you have entered an other worldly landscape. We park on top of the canyon, and as you approach, the entire area stretches out below, full of incredible formations. Hoodoo’s, cliffs, mini arches and canyons painted in hues of red, orange and cream with tall pinion pines adding a splash of green. For the rest of the evening we will descend into the canyon on the Queens Garden Trail. As we wind through areas such as Queens Garden, Wall of Windows and The Cathedral, you will be in awe. After sunset here, we will head back just outside the park and stay our first night.
DAY 2: FAIRYLAND AND CALF CREEK FALLS
We will rise and head out early for another stunning area in Bryce Canyon known as Fairyland. Again, you’ll be amazed by the topography as the sun rises over the majestic formations. Once we complete the Fairyland loop, we will leave Bryce and head toward Escalante. After lunch, we will begin the lower Calf Creek Falls trail. This is a beautiful canyon with a gentle river running through it. You’ll enjoy the soaring cliffs and wildlife. On our way, there is a point where you will see some of the largest Indian pictographs in the area. From there we continue up canyon until we reach our reward, Lower Calf Creek Falls. This 125’ tall water fall is strikingly blue against the tan sandstone. It has even created its own pool and sandy beach. We will then head to our hotel enjoy a great dinner and rest for the evening.
DAY 3: SLOT CANYONS
We will begin early in the morning and head deeper into the Escalante area. Our next stop is an area containing 3 slot canyons: Spooky, Peek-A-Boo and Brimstone. You’ll love sliding through, up and over the slot canyons formed by eons of water erosion, completing all 3 within a few hours. Heading toward our next destination, we will stop at Upper Calf Creek Falls, which is a short, but steep trail descending down a mile over sandstone. You’ll explore unique rock formations formed when iron lava bubbled to the surface then eroded away over generations. After we return to the trail head, we will head over Boulder Mountain toward the town of Torrey which lies just outside Capitol Reef National Park.
DAY 4: ANTELOPE CANYON & LAKE POWELL
We begin our final day with an incredible hike to Cassidy Arch. We will ascend to the top of the cliffs high above the canyon. As we traverse over the hard sandstone, you can see our destination of Cassidy Arch ahead. But as we get closer, it disappears. This unique arch is formed in the cliff face itself, so we actually approach from the top. But soon, you will see this amazing feature as we hike out on top of it. You will never forget this hike! After lunch, we will finish with our final hike to the Golden Throne, a short but beautiful hike full of spires, views and petroglyphs. Afterward, we will head back to Las Vegas for departure.
